Opportunity

Seton Villa has been providing housing and supported independent living to people with disabilities in Sydney’s Ryde area since 1966.

In 2021, Llewellyn Communications worked on three linked campaigns to create awareness of Seton Villa’s $11 million investment plan to build seven custom-designed homes for women with disability.

What we did

Using a range of tactics including media releases, tailored media pitches, backgrounders, case studies and media invitations, we undertook media outreach around 3 key events:

  • The official opening of the first 2 new homes – Jenny’s Place and Rosalie’s Place
  • The launch of Seton Villa’s Homes for Life crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to help fit out the third new home, Leia’s Place
  • The official opening of Leia’s Place – and the wonderful $100,000 donation that came about as a result of our media outreach work.

Results

We secured substantial media coverage across national, metro, local and Catholic media – radio, print and online – providing an estimated 2.8 million opportunities to see. There were many highlights including a request by 2GB radio presenter Jim Wilson to come and visit Rosalie’s Place, which resulted in a number of interviews and social posts (and the request that Jim be kept up to date about new developments down the track).

Another major highlight was achieving a social post on the Vinnie’s Facebook page about Seton Villa’s crowdfunding campaign, which resulted in a $100,000 donation from a wonderful member of the Vincentian community. This ultimately led to an article in The Record, St Vincent de Paul Society’s national magazine.
